Our preferred monofilament leader for finesse fishing
9.5ft taper for delicate dry fly presentation
Single pack option with great value 3-packs also available
Supple butt and tip for natural turnover and drag-free drifts

The Frog Hair Supple Butt Supple Tip Tapered Leader in the 9.5ft model is our preferred monofilament leader when delicate presentation is the priority. Designed for dry fly fishing and technical trout situations, this leader lands softly, turns over cleanly and allows flies to drift naturally with minimal drag.

Its extra supple butt section promotes smooth energy transfer rather than aggressive turnover, making it ideal for smaller dries, fine tippets and wary fish in clear water. The supple tip continues that finesse through the leader, helping your fly behave naturally once it lands.

At 9.5ft, this is a highly versatile all-round trout leader length — long enough for subtle presentations, yet still easy to cast and manage across rivers, creeks and lakes.

This listing is for the convenient single pack, perfect for topping up or trying the leader for the first time. For anglers wanting to stock up, great value 3-packs are also available.

Built from Frog Hair’s premium material, these leaders also offer excellent knot strength, toughness and built-in shock resistance.

Why We Rate It

Some leaders turn over too aggressively for dry fly fishing. These do the opposite — subtle, controlled and fishy.

Who is this for?

Trout anglers fishing dry flies, emergers and light nymphs on rivers, creeks and lakes where natural presentation and finesse are critical.
