Each flat-woven kilim is a unique, handmade piece, created with love and traditional craftsmanship. These unique rugs have been painstakingly hand-woven for generations – no two pieces are the same. They include classic kilims, which are recognizable by their characteristic "kilim slit", as well as sumak rugs, which have an embroidery-like structure on the front and loose threads on the back. Originally, these artistic textiles had a variety of uses: They decorated entrances, covered camels and horses, served as tent roofs, as tablecloths, or even as sleeping pads. Carefully preserved or lovingly restored, each kilim preserves the heritage of its artistic craftsmanship to the present day.
