Mammut Barryvox was the first beacon I purchased and has also been the most reliable. It was the main reason I decided to add Mammut to the shop this season. A few things I look for in beacons is the search range, weight, and ease of use. The Barryvox exceeds the search distance of most other beacons, coming in at 70 meters. Switching from send to search mode is simple, and the display is easy to read. I generally wear this unit with the included harness but it will also fit in a pant pocket.
The Barryvox S version includes a few extra features, mainly it combines analog and digital antennae to increase search field to nearly 100m.

It offers users a large, simple interface and intuitive operation. The Smart Search function provides clear instructions thanks to a simple operating concept and quick, precise searching. The Barryvox® S includes the Rescue SEND function to protect non-searching rescuers. In the event of a secondary avalanche, the device automatically switches to SEND in order to locate buried rescuers. The Barryvox® S is also equipped with a Smart Search function, which interacts with the actions of searching rescuers
