Pelotón de la Muerte Maguey Criollo is a 100% wild criollo agave mezcal artesanal joven — a single-agave expression from the brand whose label honors “El Doliente de Hidalgo,” the banner of the insurgent “squadron of death” in the Mexican War of Independence.
The Pelotón de la Muerte label depicts the historic flag that represented the insurgent army seeking justice after the execution of the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla: the red represents the blood of the leader, the black cross the mourning, and the bones honor his remains. Criollo is a wild agave prized for its delicate, complex, and aromatic character.
