Pillivuyt Porcelain 9-1/2-Inch Square Heavy-Duty Lasagne Baker

Product Description The Pillivuyt lasagne bakers are some of our most heavy-duty cooking pieces and they are built to last a lifetime. The walls are thick and even for longer, slower cooking without burning. Heat conduction and retention are key features. The impermeability of the Pillivuyt glaze means that even cooked-on food will slide off easily with a short soak or gentle scrub. The variety of sizes makes these dishes useful for a variety of recipes including casseroles and roasts. As with all Pillivuyt items, the glaze is exceptionally hard and resistant to scratching or chipping; all can be put in the freezer, the oven, the microwave, and the dishwasher. Only Pillivuyt offers a square lasagne baker that is 9 1/2 inches with 2 3/4-inch sides and features sturdy, easy-to-hold handles. Amazon.com This 9-1/2 square dish with 3-inch, straight sides bakes stuffed manicotti for four, prepares a pan of firm corn bread, or roasts four whole Spanish onions with the ideal heat conduction for a superbly executed recipe. An exquisite specimen of fine French pottery, this porcelain baker is simple in appearance with its milky white color, rounded corners and handles, and rolled edges yet durable due to its proprietary time-tested ingredients and thick-walled construction. The baker's pristine beauty and excellent heat retention make it a wonderful serving vessel that goes from oven to table, and its plain design is certain to blend with all dinnerware, from casual and modern to formal and vintage. Family-founded in 1818, the Pillivuyt porcelain factory still employs skilled artisans who use the original time-honored traditions of handcrafting each piece. Replacement molds are all handmade by craftspeople who have spent many years in training, and who shape them to the level of perfection that this superior bakeware requires. The result is a tough porcelain base that can withstand temperature extremes, making this baker safe to move among the oven, freezer, microwave, or broiler. And, with a little liquid in the baker, the pan can even be placed over a diffused flame on the stovetop. All pieces are glazed and fired at temperatures of about 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, which produces a non-porous, rock-hard finish that easily cleans up by hand or in the dishwasher. The lead-free glaze is resistant to crazing and staining and won't absorb food odors or flavors. --Cristina Vaamonde
