The Obsession Nandina, from the Southern Living Plant Collection, is a vibrant and versatile evergreen shrub known for its stunning foliage that changes color throughout the year. Scientifically known as Nandina domestica 'Seika', this plant features brilliant red new growth that transitions to deep green as the season progresses. In fall and winter, the foliage returns to a rich red hue, providing year-round visual interest. Compact and low-maintenance, Obsession Nandina is perfect for borders, foundation plantings, and containers. It thrives in a variety of soil types and light conditions, making it a favorite choice for gardeners seeking color and texture with minimal effort. When planting this Nandina shrub, dig the hole twice as wide as the pot and mix rich garden soil in with your native soil. Afterwards, leave the top of the root ball 1/2" above the ground level when filling the hole with soil. Use a slow-release granular fertilizer in Spring with this Obsession Nandina.
